Avatars
Your avatar is the little pixel character that runs around the hub. It's how other people see you.
Picking a name
The first time you launch LU, you'll be asked for a display name. Pick whatever you'd want others to call you in the hub — it doesn't have to be your GitHub handle. You can change it later from the settings menu (Esc).
Names are 1–32 characters, any Unicode. We block names that impersonate staff or system accounts.
Customization
Avatars come with a starter sprite. There's a small wardrobe — hats, colors, vibe shifts — accessible from the settings menu. More cosmetic options will land over time. Cosmetics never affect what you can do in the world; they just let you look how you want.
Presence
Other people in the hub can see:
- Your display name
- Your avatar's position
- Whether your mic is open (small indicator above your head)
- Whether you're currently idle (away indicator after a few minutes of no input)
They cannot see:
- Your dev server
- Your code, terminal, or any local file
- Your IP, your real name, or anything else you didn't choose to share
LU is designed so that what's yours stays yours. The world is shared. Your work is not.
